Restore Hope Ministries - Children's Room

The Children's Room is more than a place. It is an opportunity to touch a child's life with the love of Jesus. Every child who comes to Restore Hope has been impacted by problems within the family even though he or she may not fully understand. Every child has the opportunity to hear the good news of God's love through Bible stories, Christian songs, games, puzzles and other activities. This is all possible because of the love and encouragement of our caring team of volunteers. Each child leaves feeling important and deeply loved by God. The Children's Room offers more than just a place for children to wait for their parents. It offers children something they can take with them when they leave...hope.
Since the Children's Room Ministry opened in May 1997, more than 200 volunteers have shared the Gospel with the children who come to Restore Hope. The Children's Room is an ongoing project of the Tulsa District United Methodist Women and United Methodist congregations.

Each year since the Children's Room opened, volunteers have offered hope to more than 1,200 children. Restore Hope needs volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of children. We would like to open our Children's Room each day, with two volunteers in the room from 11am to 3pm. If there are no Children's Room volunteers, then the children will miss an opportunity to experience the love of Jesus in a warm, caring environment. While intake workers visit with parents, volunteers care for the children in a bright, cheery room. If there are no volunteers in the Children's Room, then the lights are turned off, the door remains shut and the room is empty. Volunteers allow us to keep the lights on and share Christ's love with children as we encourage and nurture them.

Volunteers

Children's Room Assitants:
Interact personally with children by providing activities, Bible stories, and positive encouragement.
Children's Room Advisory Committee:
Develops policies, guides the future ministry, assists the staff with training, and advises the Board.
Children's Room Maintenance Team:
Maintains a clean, safe and healthy environment for the children.

Supplies

Stuffed animals as gifts (new or used)
Toys, puzzles, books, Bible storybooks
Snacks (plain fish crackers, Cheerios)
